Forwarding, pick-up and drop-off fees
Generally, rental and return are done at the Bowken Rental Camper Sapporo Odori store, but we can also provide transportation to nearby stations or airports, arrange pick-up and drop-off at each base. Pick-up and drop-off are also available anywhere in Japan - please contact us for a quote. Please see " Vehicle Usage Instructions " for rental and return instructions.

Bowken offers outdoor equipment to enhance your campervan rental adventure. You can also rent table and chair sets, LED lanterns, coolers, barbecue sets, sleeping bags, mats, and other items to make your adventure even more enjoyable. This is extremely convenient if you want to enjoy camping and barbecues without having to bring anything with you.

Customer Responsibility and Coverage Plans
Choose one of three coverage plans (optional; coverage cannot be added after departure).
■ No Coverage
You pay the actual cost of property and vehicle damage, up to 300,000 yen per accident.
Non-Operation Charge (NOC): 50,000 yen if the vehicle can be driven back to the designated store / 100,000 yen if it cannot be driven (tax exempt)
■ Collision Damage Waiver: 2,500 yen per 24 hours (minimum 3,000 yen)
You pay nothing for property or vehicle damage.
The Non-Operation Charge (NOC) applies, the same as with No Coverage.
■ Peace of Mind Package: 3,500 yen per 24 hours (minimum 4,500 yen)
You pay nothing for property or vehicle damage.
The Non-Operation Charge (NOC) is also waived.
Example (pick-up 9:00, return 18:00): 1 night / 2 days: CDW 5,000 yen / Peace of Mind Package 7,000 yen; 2 nights / 3 days: CDW 7,500 yen / Peace of Mind Package 10,500 yen
*The Non-Operation Charge (NOC) is partial compensation for lost business while the vehicle or its interior equipment is repaired or cleaned after an accident or damage. If the repair takes a long time, a vehicle downtime charge (15,000 yen per day; 20,000 yen for campervans, tax exempt; up to 60 days) may be charged instead of the NOC. Only one of the two is charged.
*Towing and other costs of transporting the vehicle to our designated repair shop are the customer's responsibility.
*If the vehicle becomes unavailable due to an accident or breakdown during a previous rental, your booking will be cancelled. We cannot compensate for travel or other related expenses.
Precautions
When Coverage Does Not Apply (All Plans)
In the following cases, regardless of your plan, coverage will not apply, and you will be responsible for the full amount of the damage and the Non-Operation Charge (NOC).
① If the prescribed procedures are not followed
- In the event of an accident, theft, or damage, if the police and our company are not contacted.
- If a settlement is reached with the other party without our consent
- In cases of hit-and-run, car break-in, or damage caused by flying debris, where the other party is unknown and no report has been filed with the police.
② In case of violation of the rental agreement
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while intoxicated, or driving under the influence of drugs
- Driving without a license (including driving while your license is suspended or driving a vehicle of a type you are not authorized to drive)
- Driving by anyone not listed in the contract, or subletting.
- Unauthorized extension or change of return location
- Use in various tests and competitions, and for towing and pushing other vehicles.
- Damage caused by illegal parking
- In addition, if any of the prohibited actions stipulated in the rental agreement apply.
③ Damage caused by usage specific to campervans.
- Damage to the roof, bunk bed, and roof equipment due to entering areas with height restrictions (multi-story parking garages, drive-throughs, underpasses, overhanging branches, etc.)
- Damage caused by driving with the side awning (sunshade) extended, or by its deployment in strong winds.
- Malfunctions caused by use contrary to the instruction manual for FF heaters, refrigerators, inverters, water supply and drainage equipment, bed deployment mechanisms, etc.
- Damage to water supply and drainage equipment due to freezing caused by failure to drain water during winter.
- Burns and damage caused by smoking or using open flames inside the vehicle.
- Damage, soiling, or odor caused by pets (an additional cleaning fee will be charged)
- Damage caused by driving on roads other than managed roads, such as coastlines, riverbanks, and forest roads, and rescue costs in case of getting stuck.
- Putting the wrong fuel into the tank when refueling
④ Damages not covered by insurance or compensation
- Damage caused by intent or gross negligence
- Damage to tires and wheels, punctures and emergency repair kit costs, and loss of wheel caps.
- Lost keys
- If your car is stolen while parked with the keys in the ignition or unlocked.
- Loss of or damage to in-vehicle equipment or rental items
- Damage to the customer's own property
- Damages excluded from coverage under the insurance company's policy
*Any damages exceeding the compensation limit will be the customer's responsibility.
Regarding parking violation penalties
If a notice of illegal parking is attached to your vehicle...
Please report to the police station with jurisdiction over your area immediately and complete the required procedures.
Please complete the payment of the fine at the designated financial institution.
Upon return, we will verify the "Traffic Violation Notice" and any "Payment Slip/Receipt, etc." with the date of payment.
Please note that if you are unable to present your "Traffic Violation Notice" and "Payment Slip/Receipt, etc." (i.e., if payment of the fine cannot be confirmed), you will be required to pay the penalty fee of 30,000 yen as listed below.
*If you pay the fine at a later date and present the "Traffic Violation Notice" and "Payment Slip/Receipt, etc.," we will refund the penalty fee. The refund will be made by bank transfer to a designated account, and the transfer fee will be borne by the customer. *If we cannot confirm payment of the fine or if you do not pay the penalty fee, you will be registered in the system of the National Rent-a-Car Association, and rental car companies affiliated with the association may refuse to rent a car to you in the future. This applies to all of our vehicles, so please be aware of this in advance.
Important points to note when using the service
About using car navigation systems
Please use the route set by your car navigation system as a reference only. We cannot be held responsible for any damages caused by discrepancies in the scheduled time, etc.
Fastening rear seat belts
Please make sure all passengers, including those in the back seat, wear seat belts.
Important points to note when returning the vehicle
About fuel
Please return the car with a full tank of gasoline (or diesel). If you are unable to return the car with a full tank, we will charge you based on the distance traveled. Please note that in this case, the amount will be higher than the actual amount of fuel.
Return time
If you change your planned return time or cannot make it in time, please contact us.
Regarding reservation cancellations
If you cancel your reservation for any reason, a cancellation fee will be charged.
If we do not hear from you within one hour of the rental start date and time, we will consider the rental to be canceled.
*This does not apply if you are unable to contact us due to being on the move and not having a signal.

■ Cancellation due to bad weather: Please consult with us. Priority: 1) Change to another flight, 2) Change of schedule (same day transfer), 3) 50% cancellation fee
■Changes to reservation date and time: Changes can be made free of charge up to 31 days or more in advance.
■Cancellation midway: Generally not permitted ■Rental extension: If you wish to extend the rental period, please contact us in advance. An additional fee will be charged according to the rental fee schedule.
■Pet fee: 5,000 yen per pet per day. *When returning the car, please clean it using the cleaning tools provided.
